High purity Erbium Hydroxide is widely applied as dopant in making optical fibre and amplifier. It is particularly useful as an amplifier for fiber optic data transfer. Erbium-doped optical silica-glass fibers are the active element in Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, which are widely used in optical communications.
