Erbium Hydroxide also called Erbium Hydrate, is an important colourant in glasses and porcelain enamel glazes. High purity Erbium Hydroxide is widely applied as dopant in making optical fibre and amplifier. It is particularly useful as an amplifier for fiber optic data transfer. Erbium-doped optical silica-glass fibers are the active element in Erbium-doped fiber amplifiers, which are widely used in optical communications. The other main application is for optical fiber.
